Large figures are the median engagement rate on creators’ recent posts; “typical” is the middle half of creators. Engagement rate = (likes + comments + shares) ÷ views. YouTube tiers use subscribers.
Reading the number
High engagement is not the whole story.
Views, not followers
Dividing by followers counts people who never saw the post. On TikTok, much of the reach comes from the recommendation feed rather than followers, so we divide by views.
TikTok influencer marketingBigger is not always lower
Among TikTok creators we worked with, the 1M+ tier had a median engagement rate of about 10%, higher than about 5% for 10K–50K. Look at average views and engagement together.
Influencer rate calculatorThen check CPM
Engagement shows whether the audience responds. Whether the fee is worth it depends on CPM: creator fee ÷ recent average views × 1,000.

Methodology
Where these numbers come from.
Benchmarks come from TikTok, YouTube and Instagram collaborations Bioby published from November 2025 to October 2026. Each deal records the creator’s average views and engagement rate on recent posts before the deal, where engagement rate = (likes + comments + shares) ÷ views.
Large figures are medians. “Typical” is the middle half of creators, from the 25th to the 75th percentile, rounded to 0.1%. Tiers use follower or subscriber counts at the time of the deal. Tiers with few deals are left out, including Instagram creators over 1M followers.
These are creators brands shortlisted and confirmed, so their engagement may run higher than the platform average. Use the figures to compare candidates, not to describe a whole platform. Data last updated October 2026.
Questions about engagement rate
How is engagement rate calculated?
A common formula is (likes + comments + shares) ÷ views × 100%. Some tools divide by followers instead, which gives very different numbers, so make sure you compare the same method. This calculator uses views.
What is a normal engagement rate on TikTok?
Among creators Bioby worked with from November 2025 to October 2026, the median TikTok engagement rate by views was about 8.1%, with the middle half between 4.6% and 12.8%. Creators with 1M+ followers had a median of about 10%.
What about Instagram and YouTube?
The median was about 2.8% on Instagram, with the middle half between 1.4% and 4.6%, and about 2.4% on YouTube, between 1.4% and 4%. Both run well below TikTok, so compare each platform on its own.
Is a high engagement rate enough to book a creator?
Not on its own. Engagement shows whether the audience responds; you still need to check where the audience is, whether the content fits your product, and what the fee works out to per thousand views. Use it with the CPM calculator and the influencer rate calculator.
Where does the data come from?
From creators’ average figures on recent posts before deals Bioby published, summarized as medians and middle-half ranges by platform and tier, with no personal information about any creator. Data last updated October 2026.
